Impact Selector’s MFT is a multiconductor open hole wireline jar for use in extreme applications that helps prevent stuck tool strings and expensive fishing operations.

Ultra reliable and not affected by temperature or pressure, the MFT provides instant and unlimited activations, with no potentially critical time delays. The jar activates as soon as wireline tension exceeds the predetermined setting and applies a powerful impulse to the stuck tool string. The simple operation of the patented design allows the operator to reset the jar under its own weight for additional, unlimited activations.

The internal electrical and mechanical components of the MFT jar are sealed and protected from wellbore fluids by using an oil-filled pressure and temperature compensation system. The system compensates for changes in internal fluid volume due to pressure induced compression and temperature induced expansion.Isolation of internal components from wellbore fluids allows for extended run time with minimal preventative maintenance and decreased frequency of full service maintenance; reducing operating costs.

Proprietary ImpactPro jar setting software models downhole dynamics and allows the operator to dial in the jar settings for each well’s unique conditions. Impact ratios and activation forces can be optimized to suit particular job requirements and the jar adjusted accordingly.

In order to maximize the value of the tool to the client, Impact Selector recommend a specialist technician accompany the tool on each run.

Impact Selector’s XCS E-line wireline jar is a powerful yet cost effective way to reduce risk in electric wireline cased hole operations.

With a sealed and oil filled design the XCS is suitable for hostile environments and also benefits from reduced maintenance and operating cost.

With the smaller cables used for cased hole operations there is often a very limited amount of overpull available to free stuck tools.

The XCS jar acts to greatly increase the force available at the cablehead through using energy stored in compressed springs and the wireline itself to create a powerful upwards impulse on the tools.

As the force acts on the bottom of the jar, the cablehead is protected from the impact and remains unaffected.
The jar activation force can be easily adjusted at surface while in the string to account for different operations.

Available in a range of sizes and with all major types of connections, the XCS jar is ideal for most logging, perforating, pipe recovery and plug setting operations. Available in standard and HPHT specifications.

                                Benefits:

                                • Extends the envelope for wireline deployed high deviation logging.

                                • Enables delivery of high quality data through wireline logging.

                                • Improves data quality by eliminating tool string stick-slip, achieving more constant logging speeds.

                                • Reduces operational cost and risk profile significantly in comparison to pipe conveyed logging.

                                • Reduces the risk of tool string differential sticking.

Open hole wireline logging is relatively straightforward in vertical wells. As deviation increases to even moderate angles, the resulting friction between these heavy tools and the variable wellbore surface can restrict wireline conveyance or even make it Impossible.

Greater deviation also increases the risk of differential sticking and such difficult conditions may cause wireline to be abandoned and hugely increase costs incurred for pipe-conveyed logging operations.

With its long experience in conveyance solutions, Impact Selector’s unique patented Roller Bogie technology increases the safe operating envelope for wireline tools in open hole. Wireline can now be run safely at greater deviations than has previously been possible, before costly alternatives such as pipe conveyed logging needs to be considered. The Roller Bogie is equally as effective in cased hole environments to extend wireline access for cement logging, plug setting and other cased hole operations with larger tools.

The roller body rotates freely around the mandrel which is connected to the host tool string. The high-lift roller design stands the tool string off the side wall to ensure maximum friction reduction and to manage the risk of differential sticking. Various size roller body sets can be supplied depending upon the hole, casing size and tool string lowercase outside diameter and are clamped around the mandrel, without the need for re-wiring.

With a large standoff to protect against differential sticking and high-lift rollers to eliminate friction; the Roller Bogie tool enables easier and deeper access with much reduced risk. Tools are available in a range of sizes, with connections for all major service company logging tools and can be re-sized without removal from the tool string.
Roller Bogie helps reach greater deviations, improve data quality & provide stand-off with one inline roller solution

                                        Benefits:

                                        • Extends the envelope for wireline deployed high deviation logging.

                                        • Enables delivery of high quality data through wireline logging.

                                        • Improves data quality by eliminating tool string “slip-stick”, achieving more constant logging speeds.

                                        • Reduces operational cost and risk profile significantly in comparison to pipe conveyed logging.

                                        • Negotiates ledges and wash-outs that would normally prevent wireline tool strings from reaching total depth.

In open hole operations, the wellbore surface can be irregular and unpredictable. This can present significant challenges to the deployment of wireline tools, particularly as deviation increases.

Momentum is lost every time the leading end of the tool string encounters wellbore irregularities such as ledges or washouts, or debris lying in the low side of the well.

The key to effective open hole conveyance lies in mitigating these challenges at the leading end of the tool string.
Lifting the end of the tool string off the low side of the wellbore mitigates momentum loss and possible damage from impacts as it is run in hole.

Lifting the lower end of the tool string also prevents or reduces the “snow ploughing” effect when there is debris or sand accumulation in the well.

Where wellbore enlargement is severe, it may be impossible to prevent the tool string from entering washout zones. In this case, it is essential that the bottom end is equipped with the means of both protecting the tool string and returning the tool string effectively to the main wellbore.

The Roller Bogie Hole Finder provides the required protection and conveyance solution for heavy tools in open hole, guiding the leading end of the tool string and minimizing momentum loss.

As an integral part of Impact Selector’s Intelligent Conveyance Solutions, pre-job modeling provides the service company and operator with insights into optimum tool string design, wire selection and other operational fundamentals.

The results of pre-job modelling such as availability of overpull at target depth can be used to calculate the best setting for an open or cased hole wireline jar to avoid accidental firing when pulling out of hole, but ensure the jar will fire before maximum pull at surface is reached.

Impact Selector has conducted in-house testing to measure the friction reduction capabilities of our Roller Bogie and I-Wheel tools when strategically placed along any wireline tool string. When the results of these tests are combined with the ability to reduce the resistive frictional forces of independent tools in a computer model the output clearly demonstrates and quantifies the benefits of roller systems.
